The First Americans and their traditions culture are often forgotten. In one of the project proposals the goal was to help showcase and preserve Native American culture, working with the Anthropology Department to create a short film/documentary. The hope was to engage the community in educating, and spreading awareness of the difficulties faced by the Native American community.

Unfortunately this hope was not able to be realized.

 

However, as I conducted research and sought ways to help spread awareness of the struggles Native Americans face, I learned of programs, where media is specifically used as a medium of preservation and education.

There are many ways to learn more about Native American and Indigenous culture, and help out. Here are some other sources where one can learn about the history and culture, as well as issues faced by many groups, including access to education.
